In Memory: Gordon B. Hinckley

“We ever pray for you, our Prophet dear”

Hymn 23

Sunday January 27, 2008At 7:00 PM this evening, our beloved prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley passed away surrounded by his family. There are no words that can adequately express the legacy that this great man has left the world. And, there are no words quite adequate to express our loss. However, there is great joy that we have lived during his sacred leadership.

Prophet President Hinckley

To our dearest prophet,

Our hearts are heavy. It is a cold winter, and we weep for ourselves that we must go on without you. By now you are standing hand in hand with your dear wife Marjorie. You are being embraced by all of God’s prophets that have gone before, and you sit at the feet of our Savior Jesus Christ, where He will surely say; “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

May all of us strive to live as faithfully as you have!

  1. You are so right, Michael.

It has been said that Gordon B. Hinckley did more for the church than any other man except Joseph Smith. His legacy will be far reaching throughout all time. What a miracle and blessing it has been to live under his leadership!

  2. His power and influence in the world will be greatly missed. The world was better because of him, and is now a little worse without him. At least his death has aroused some attention on his wonderful life. Nice blog here.

  3. He was a most good and faithful servant. Can you see all the past prophets together in Heaven? What a joyous reunion that must have been also! I’ll miss President Hinckley – he was one of my most favorite prophets since Spencer W. KImball, who was president when I was baptized. Both were wonderful men.

  4. Dear Friends, This post originally included a quote attributed to Elder Boyd K. Packer which is incorrect. I thank alert reader Andrew for sending his track-back, and to others who have left various messages I have chosen not to approve.

A very special kudos goes out to J for giving all of us the definitive link of confirmation!!

I have removed the quotation. I encourage all of you to alert any others who may be sharing it. Please accept my sincere apology.
