I’d like to make one suggestion to your wording. The temple “sealing” is, I believe, a promise of a future sealing, not the future sealing itself. This means that when the couple leaves the temple, they aren’t actually married for eternity. It means they have a promise of an eternal marriage if they remain faithful to their covenants. We call the ceremony a sealing when we should actually call it a promise of a sealing. If they do remain faithful, their marriage will be made eternal when they are sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise.

You were right about the key point of all of this: the couple must remain true to their covenants to have their marriage made permanent for the eternities.
