Power of The Scriptures

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
President Spencer W. Kimball 1895 – 1985
12th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Spencer W. Kimball

Spencer W. Kimball

“I find that when I get casual in my relationships with divinity and when it seems that no divine ear is listening and no divine voice is speaking, that I am far, far away. If I immerse myself in the scriptures the distance narrows and the spirituality returns. I find myself loving more intensely those whom I must love with all my heart and mind and strength, and loving them more. I find it easier to abide their counsel”

(The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p. 135)

Amen to that. Of course, my idea of “immersed” is probably somewhere near what Pres. Kimball considered “far, far away”, But I can definitely feel a tremendous difference when I am speaking to the Father and hearing my voice. That is when I know he loves me, because I feel His love deep in my soul so that I cannot doubt it. I have had some rough times, just like everybody does. But when I stand next to the Savior, I know I can face anything with courage and strength.

Thanks for reminding me of one of my favorite all time quotes.
