A 1978 Warning Of Current USA Crises

Thirty years ago Elder Neal A. Maxwell, who was then serving in The First Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gave a talk at Brigham Young University entitled “Meeting The Challenges of Today,”. It was later republished as “A More Determined Discipleship“. His words of warning that day … Continue reading

Mormons Believe in Following Christ

Jesus taught us how to know the difference between a true or a false prophet, and between a true or false follower of His gospel:     “By their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matt. 7:20.)  “For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit… Every tree … Continue reading

Living In The World, Without Letting The World Into Us

We live in troubling times. One of my frequent readers, John Paul at e4Unity recently posted about the worries of the religious community regarding the crumbling fabric of our society, the loss of freedoms and spirituality we are experiencing, and the natural contemplation that ensues of signs of the last days and second coming of … Continue reading

Gardner organized the first stage concert with the help of many talented volunteer musicians. The response was overwhelming. The audience filled the venue beyond capacity, forcing … Continue reading

In 1820 God Chose A Prophet

As explained in my last post, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Restoration church. I would like to share a few posts that explain that restoration. A Rebuttal To: “Mormonism LEGALLY Declared Not Christian”

A few weeks ago, a blog buddy of mine named John Shore sent me an email. Knowing that I am a Mormon, he shared an article recently published by Richard Abanes, which presents the theory that Mormonism has legally  been declared non-Christian. On inspection this post’s startling claim does not hold water. I would like to offer my personal response as … Continue reading

A Birthmas To Remember

The Morning After An Election

Our nation is experiencing the “morning after” syndrome of a presidential election. After managing to drag out the anticipation, mudslinging, media blitz and emotional roller coaster ride for over two years I don’t think it is surprising for most Americans to wake up with an anticlimactic political hangover. Of course, there are those who still … Continue reading

Happy First Birthday Blog!

Today is the official one year birthday of MormonSoprano.com! Like every doting parent, I am throwing a little virtual “birthday party”, and walking down memory lane. In October of 2007 I started receiving a recurring thought that I needed to “build a blog”. This was a bizarre idea because I didn’t have a clue what a … Continue reading
