Thankful Thoughts

It’s Thanksgiving Week in the United States! In the spirit of the season of gratitude, I’d like to share a few thankful thoughts.

Live In Thanksgiving Daily

In the Book of Mormon, we learn that we should “live in thanksgiving daily” (Alma 34:38).

Joseph B. Wirthlin

Can you imagine how your life would improve if you lived in thanksgiving daily? Can you imagine how your life would improve if others did the same? Do you think the world would be a happier place? Less stressful? Less angry? More spiritual?

“Choice blessings await those who live in thanksgiving daily. “He who receiveth all things with thankfulness,” the Lord has promised, “shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more.” – Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

Walk With Gratitude

“Be Grateful. . . .When you walk with gratitude, you do not walk with arrogance and conceit and egotism, you walk with a spirit of thanksgiving that is becoming to you and will bless your lives.” – Gordon B. Hinckley

Express Gratitude

How much better it would be if all could be more aware of God’s providence and love and express that gratitude to Him. Ammon taught, “Let us give thanks to [God], for he doth work righteousness forever.”(Alma 26:8) Our degree of gratitude is a measure of our love for Him. –  Russell M. Nelson

A Grateful Heart

“A grateful heart. . . comes through expressing gratitude to our Heavenly Father for His blessings and to those around us for all that they bring into our lives.

“To express gratitude is gracious and honorable, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live with gratitude ever in our hearts is to touch heaven.” – Thomas S. Monson

    • Becky, I did not find a reference connected to Elder Faust. However, I did find this:

“Our Father in Heaven commands us to be thankful in all things (see 1 Thessalonians 5:18), and He requires that we give thanks for the blessings we receive (see D&C 46:32). We know that all of His commandments are intended to make us happy, and we also know that to break commandments leads to misery.” – President Henry B. Eyring
