Sabbath of Service in Bountiful
It’s been a “beautiful day in the neighborhood”! Bountiful residents were out in force on Sunday helping their neighbors clean up from Thursday’s big windstorm. We were also gearing up and “battening down the hatches” in preparation for a second storm predicted to hit tonight with 70+ mph winds. All sabbath services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern Utah were shortened to a one-hour sacrament meeting. Then members were sent Continue reading
Much Ado About Mormons, Moments, and Mitt
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year or two, you’ve heard something about “Mormons”. And, if you live in America, it’s likely you’ve been hearing a lot! Pick your passion, and you’ve probably heard the word “Mormon” connected somehow…whether it’s Broadway musicals, Politics, teen vampire lit., HBO polygamy dramas, or any number of reality TV shows and their famous contestants….In fact, a while back someone started calling this “The Mormon Moment“. Mainly because Mormons are a “hot topic” these days. Lots of people are exploring questions such as Who / What / Where are the Mormons? and, probably most popular of late: Can a Mormon win the White House? We’ve seen feature articles Continue reading
Miracle From Heaven
In 2009 three nationally known artists joined talents to share their witnesses of Jesus Christ. The “Son of Man Project“ was created to combine artwork of renowned Christian artist Liz Lemon Swindle, the music of acclaimed composer Kenneth Cope, and the writings of religious scholar Susan Easton-Black
“at completion, the Son of Man project will include a four-volume book series, an original two-volume musical score, and over one hundred paintings and sketches celebrating the life of the Savior.”
The attached video produced by B. Hillman combines Kenneth Cope’s song “Miracle From Heaven“ with art-work by Liz Lemon Swindle, and enjoy rare behind-the-scene footage of Ms. Swindle’s staged subject photo-shoots.

He Is Risen!
“Of all the things for which I feel grateful, I am most thankful this Easter morning for the gift of my Lord and my Redeemer. This is Easter, when, with all of Christendom, we commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This was not an ordinary thing. It was the greatest event in human history. I do not hesitate to say that.
“If a man die, shall he live again?” asked Job (Job 14:14). There is no question of greater importance than this. Continue reading
Holy Saturday: Jesus Visits The Dead

Where was Jesus for the 30-35 hours between His death on Friday, and His Resurrection on Sunday? The answer unlocks the mystery of death and gives us a glimpse of God’s Great Plan of Happiness for all of His children. Elder Spencer J. Condie of the Quorum of the Seventy stated:
“…the significance of what He [The Savior] did during those hours provides the doctrinal foundation for building [Latter-day Saint] temples across the earth. Furthermore, a testimony of what He did can greatly console those who mourn the death of a loved one.” Continue reading
My Easter Story
~~~
Cries out,
“I am alone!”
I look at the cross to my left
And Jesus is there.
Since Friday
He has been
Quietly sharing
my pain
And when I listen
I hear Him Say,
“Lo, I am with you…
Alway.” Continue reading
An Easter Walk in The Holy Land
I recently discovered a series of incredibly beautiful and insightful religion lectures entitled The Eternal Christ, filmed on location in the Holy Land featuring the beloved author, lecturer, teacher and latter-day religious scholar Truman G. Madsen (1926 – 2009). Continue reading
Being Like Jesus
Some of the most sublime and thought-provoking teachings of Jesus can be found in the 5th Chapter of Matthew , in the New Testamant – called The Sermon on The Mount. Not far from the city of Nazareth, a large crowd gathered on a hill. They had a commanding view of the beautiful Sea of Galilee as they listened to the man who had calmed its waves and walked upon its sparkling water. Continue reading
The Handmade Gift
There’s nothing sweeter than receiving a handmade gift. The thought of someone taking the effort to choose materials, and invest their time and energy to personally share their talent is touching. In our busy modern world, it’s become rare, which makes this gift all the more special.
I’ve been trying to remember the last time I gave a handmade craft as a gift. When I was in High School, our family invited a foreign exchange student from Finland to live with us for the school year. Matti’s passion was ice hockey, and he was good, leading a local team to victory. From the beginning he and I were competitive with each other. I suppose we were jockeying for position in the family hierarchy. We didn’t always see eye-to-eye about the world either and had several lengthy “debates”. But, like any ”sibling rivalry”, underneath it all there was respect and love. When Christmas time approached, Continue reading
