A Bright Light To The World

There are many names and titles for Jesus Christ. One of them is “The Light“. He is referred to multiple times in the scriptures as “The Light of the world“,  “The Light of Men” and “The True Light“. In addition to Jesus being the light, those who choose to follow him are promised to receive a portion of … Continue reading

Consider The Lilies: Fear Not

Jesus often taught his followers to “fear not“. In today’s world climate of anxiety and uncertainty, Christ’s parable of the lily is more relevant than ever, and offers us great comfort and proper perspective. In the Master’s sermon on the mount, imagery from nature is used to remind us of God’s power over all things.  … Continue reading

It was entitled: “O, Divine Redeemer“. Elder Maxwell was known for his keen intellect, and love for poetry and alliteration. Each talk became a scriptural … Continue reading

Harvard: Mormon Student Interview

A 20-year-old Harvard junior from Idaho is asked a series of questions that could be considered “tricky” for members to answer in a private setting, and certainly challenging in the public arena. However, she delivers a poised and candid interview. Questions range from whether she wears sacred undergarments, why the temple is secret, who Joseph Smith was and why he is important, and how she reacts to allegations that Mormonism is a cult. She is also asked to respond to the often negative perception of the role of women in the church. Concluding questions deal with her personal relationship with Jesus, and her plans for the future. The holy scriptures teach us of the great battle which is being waged for souls between the forces of good and the forces of evil. In this new MoSop Movie you will see that once we become truly converted to the Lord’s cause on earth, then we are recruited as His warriers for truth and righteousness…to victoriously serve our fellow men through missionary and humanitarian efforts. Mormon Temple Ceremony and Worship

Mormon Temple worship and the ceremonies which take place inside are often a subject of curiosity and scrutiny. Because the worship which takes place in LDS temples is closed to the public, there is the potential for suspicion, rumor, misunderstanding, or inaccurate information. This is unfortunate. My website is designed to enlighten readers, to answer questions, and … Continue reading

A Matter of a Few Degrees

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, an apostle and Second Counselor to the prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints once gave powerful spiritual counsel using a modern airline analogy. Prior to Pres. Uchtdorf’s calling to the LDS apostleship on February 3, 2008, he was a former German Airforce pilot, and held several executive positions, … Continue reading

Everything But The Kitchen Sink

Yesterday I wrote about Finding Light In The Darkess of our lives, and had the amazing good fortune of announcing that after our dark and dreary wait, Mr. MoSop received a job offer!! However, the Lord in His infinite wisdom made sure we didn’t get too uppity about it. (explanation momentarily).

Finding Light In The Darkness

In early Spring of 2008 the economic crises hit our household when my husband was laid off from his job. His employer was sad to have to let him go, but had no choice “due to the economic turn-down”. Mr. MoSop was provided with a small severance package, and a glowing reference letter, which were … Continue reading

Apology Accepted, Tom Hanks

Apology Accepted, Tom Hanks

Last week I wrote an open letter To Tom Hanks From An American Mormon Fan. During my letter, I encouraged Tom to apologize for his disparaging Mormon comments. Yesterday, he did: “Last week, I labeled members of the Mormon church who supported California’s Proposition 8 as “un-American.” I believe Proposition 8 is counter to the … Continue reading

His message is one of hope and joy. No matter what we face in life, we never face it alone. … Continue reading

Using Our Teeth

I recently came across a short biography of Elder John B. Dickson of the Latter-Day Saint Seventy. I found his life story very inspirational, and his words of wisdom are applicable to our own daily living: “When it was time for me to go on a mission, I was very excited to serve the Lord. … Continue reading

A New Day For Happy Thoughts

In my last post rant, I’m afraid I came across quite a bit cranky and less than patriotic. That was not my intention. OK. I admit I was cranky. But I want to reassure you that I still love my country very much, I am eager to see good things come from our new administration … Continue reading

Praying To Share The Joy

I received an invite on my Facebook this afternoon to join a “Global Prayer Rally Event” which a faithful Latter-day Saint has created. I think it is very admirable, and a great reminder for us all to follow the request of a prophet of God! Here is the description which accompanied the Global Event invitation: … Continue reading

A New Year of Hope and Gratitude

Don’t change that dial…yes, this is still MormonSoprano! However, in honor of the upcoming New Year celebration, I made a few little festive changes. I also activated my “falling snow” feature, as it makes a nice double for confetti, don’t you think? It is hard to believe that we are already ushering 2008 out the … Continue reading

Living In The World, Without Letting The World Into Us

We live in troubling times. One of my frequent readers, John Paul at e4Unity recently posted about the worries of the religious community regarding the crumbling fabric of our society, the loss of freedoms and spirituality we are experiencing, and the natural contemplation that ensues of signs of the last days and second coming of … Continue reading

Life On The Bus

It seems that we can’t escape the general feeling of oppression, fear, worry and doubt gripping our nation these days. A couple of weeks ago I read a wonderfully written Associated Press editorial (which after an extensive search, I cannot locate now). It discussed the decline of our national psyche and morale over the past … Continue reading

Heaven Opened Every Door

Heaven Opened Every Door

A very historic and sacred event in history was commemorated this weekend. In June 1978 the Priesthood was extended to “every worthy male” member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I remember that prophetic day. I would have been 12 years old. My mother picked me up from school and told me … Continue reading
