The last week of December always means a time for extra reflection on the past, the present and the future. With the New Year approaching, I join with millions across the globe to make resolutions to improve. But, the week carries a little extra importance for me. My oldest daughter and I celebrate our birthday’s this week. She was my birthday present 21 years ago today. (That’s more than a little crazy to think about!) How could that many years fly by so quickly? Continue reading

Please Remember Who You Are
One of my mother’s “famous sayings” when I was growing up, [used with increasing frequency and urgency the older my siblings and I became], was “Please Remember Who You Are!” Without fail, as we were running out the door to play with friends, or to have a “sleep over”, attend a party or go to Prom, Mother’s voice could be heard calling after us; “Please Remember Who You Are!“
As time went by, it became an inside joke to see Continue reading
Closer To God One Synthetic Cell At A Time
The world has made an amazing scientific leap. I don’t know where we are leaping yet, but I sense it will be far and wide. Last May, the Wall Street Journal reported that Scientists Have Created A Synthetic Cell. Heralding a new era in biology, scientists for the first time have created a synthetic cell, completely controlled by man-made genetic instructions. The day of the announcement, I wrote this blog post – but, for some reason I never hit the “publish” button and it sat quietly in my “draft” queue – until today. At the time of the article’s release I wondered how the world would react to this news? Would the media pounce, or ignore? Would the breakthrough be applauded or picketed? Only time would tell. For me, the discovery was another witness of God. Continue reading
I Believe In Aliens
When I was about 8 years old I learned that earthlings are not alone in the Universe. This was the summer my divorced mother bundled her three young children into the car for “an adventure to California“. I have limited memories of what we did or where we went, but the memories I do have are powerful and crystal clear. Continue reading
And Now I See
As I endured another morning of snail-paced highway traffic during another typical frantic commute to the office, I happened to turn my head slightly to the left, and up – just in time to witness the exact moment the sun peeked over the top of the Rocky Mountains.
It was a stunning sight, and suddenly, my very ordinary morning, with its very ordinary routine was transformed into something very extraordinary. Continue reading
3 Keys To A Great Life
To say I do a lot of reading would be an understatement. Books, magazines, newspapers, blog posts, articles, commentary…online and offline…you name it, I can be found turning, flipping, scanning and scrolling down. Often during these ‘word feasts’ I come across a quote that sticks in my brain, and then churns around and around until it’s soft, and warm, and smooth as homemade butter taffy. Continue reading
Knowing Who We Really Are
“God has given again in these Latter-days the truth about where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going. Much of the confusion we experience in this life comes from simply not understanding who we are.” – Dieter F. Uchtdorf Continue reading
Prepare For A Miracle: Bronson’s Story
In a world where we experience a continual barrage of discouraging information and negative news, it often seems impossible to find hope. How do we rise above it all? How can we find higher meaning? How do we have faith?
I’ve learned through personal experience that it is only by entering darkness that we may emerge into brighter light. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a tragedy to give new perspective, but also allows us to experience a miracle, like the story of Bronson. Continue reading
Winning Life’s Daily Battle
“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle. ” – Plato
Never give up, never give in! You were born to win!

This is a story about how one unlikely girl fulfilled her dream of becoming a cheerleader. It’s really a story about hope, and love, and what’s still right with the world.
