The Importance Of Music

This new video expresses perfectly the way that I feel about music.

Marissa Rohlfing

I am so impressed with Marissa Rohlfing, a beautiful young Mormon Soprano woman from Hawaii who is truly magnifying her talents by not only sharing the song of her heart, but helping others to do the same. From one “MoSop” to another, I salute Marissa! May we all follow her good advice and positive example. – Aloha!

I Know That My Savior Loves Me

A few years ago two talented women named Tami Jeppson Creamer, and Derena Bell teamed up to compose the song ”I Know That My Savior Loves Me“. It was written specifically for a children’s choir to perform at a local Stake Conference, but this weekend the song will “go viral” to a global audience!

Creamer and Bell’s powerful message combined with a sweet melody has been popular with  Continue reading

Now, thanks to the updated official church website, it is easier than ever to find these treasures. This week, I will be sharing some of these with you. Today’s feature is a song entitled “Shining Star” published in the December 1979 issue of the NEW ERA magazine. Continue reading

“Pat-a-pan” is a French Christmas carol originally written in the dialect of Burgundy, and later adapted into English. The song was written by Bernard de La Monnoye (1641–1728) and tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ from the perspective of shepherds playing simple instruments such as flutes and drums. In this enjoyable video, Mormon pop singer, and former American Idol, David Archuleta performs a lively rendition of Pat-a-Pan with Celtic singer, Orla Fallon. Continue reading

Let There Be Peace On Earth

The following story was told by Elder M. Russell Ballard, Apostle in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:

[In 1990] I had the privilege of participating in the Washington, D.C. Visitors’ Center Christmas lighting celebration. When I turned on the 200,000 lights, they seemed to dance and sparkle in the trees, with the majestic temple glowing in the background.

That night, outside of their Soviet community for the first time, Continue reading

There’s nothing like a glorious performance of Handel‘s “Messiah” to get everyone in the right spirit for Christmas. Although Handel actually wrote Messiah as an Easter Oratorio, it has become synonymous with Christmas, and a time honored tradition. For many, the holiday just wouldn’t be the same without Continue reading

“Do You Have Room?” New Christmas Video

Christchild by Joseph Brickey

Last year I had the great privilege to become web friends with LDS composer Shawna Belt Edwards. I blogged about her beautiful Do You Have Room? Song Sensation. This year, Shawna has teamed up with another of my respected LDS artistic friends, blogger/videographer Seth Adam Smith to create a timeless music video gift. I hope that you will feel the loving spirit of our Savior Jesus Christ as you watch, listen, ponder and share. It is my prayer that each of us will always choose to ‘make room’ for the Babe of Bethlehem.

Do You Have Room [For The Savior]?

The Road Less Traveled Song

David Osmond

One of my very favorite poems is “The Road Less Traveled” by Robert Frost. I was pleased to see that Mormon musician David Osmond has chosen this as the title for his newest album which released August 10, 2010. In his short life, David has already lived through some pretty intense experiences, Continue reading

Life as a Boot-Camp-Anti-Tree-Nut-Wedding-Singer-Mom

You’ve probably heard at least one of these catch phrases

  • expect the unexpected
  • if you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes
  • the only thing predictable in life is unpredictability
  • change is inevitable
  • don’t get too comfortable

. . . right? Continue reading
