Hi! I’m Mormon Soprano (aka “MoSop”) Welcome to my blog. Here’s a little bit about me.
A Mormon (obviously): My personal religious experience is an intrinsic part of my identity and my daily life. I am a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . I have lived most of my life in the Western United States, and reside in Utah I was born to a large and vibrant family of faithful Latter-day Saints. My ancestors emigrated from Europe and Scandinavia in the mid 1800′s and were part of the epic Mormon Pioneer migration. They settled in Utah and California. I love being a Mormon!
A Soprano: My mother says I began singing at birth. I fell in love with theater and performance at a young age. When I got older, I received my college degree in Vocal Performance as a classically trained lyric Soprano. I have performed Opera and Musical Theater for nearly three decades. I love ”making noise” (preferably in a high key, and hopefully on pitch). I love to sing!
A Mom: My husband and I have been happily married for over 20 years, (22+ as of today) and are very proud parents of two beautiful daughters. (We also have a dog named Joey.) We believe that family is part of God’s Plan, and that we can be together forever after this life ends. I love my family!
A Teacher: I teach voice lessons part-time (I also hold down a full-time day job at a local University to pay the bills and have insurance). I believe that music is one of our direct channels to God. A soul often comes closest to touching heaven when listening to, and participating in great music. Music that brings joy, laughter, peace and inspiration is a heavenly gift. Music that uplifts the soul can also bind up the wounds of a troubled world. I love teaching the art of music!
A Christian: I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and Redeemer of the World. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe in the power of holy scripture. I believe in miracles. As children of God, He has a divine purpose for our life. My faith in Jesus is the most important belief I have. I know that he walks with each of us through our earthly life. He feels our joy and our sorrow. Every challenge that we face, and every unexpected change is tailor-made so that we can learn and grow. We are being prepared for our heavenly homecoming! I believe in Jesus Christ, whom God sent to the earth to be our Savior and Redeemer. He loves me. He loves you. His divine sacrifice for us gives our lives hope and purpose. I love my Savior!
A Missionary: In January 2008 I embarked upon my volunteer service as a musical missionary. I lift my voice in song and praise weekly to share my love for God our Heavenly Father, and for His only begotten Son. I share my talents and abilities without monetary compensation in order to proclaim the good news of the gospel! This experience is both tremendously hard work, and tremendously rewarding. I love being a musical missionary!
A Writer: I have a passion for words, whether reading, writing, journalling, note-taking, list-making, you name it. The internet has fanned the flames of this obsession. This is both a Blessing (endless words to read and write and share)…and a Curse (“monitor-potato-syndrome” and insomnia). I love to write!
A Friend: I created this blog to share with you the things that I love. I hope you will find something here to brighten your day , make you smile, or just encourage you to hang on! This is not an official website of the LDS church. All of my posts are my own personal observations. However, I hope to promote greater understanding of the Mormon faith & lifestyle. I always welcome questions, comments and dialog. I invite you to return often for inspirational messages and music. I love you!
Life is a gift. May yours be blessed! – MoSop
