“Have you had your music today?” That is what Tamara Oswald, (harp) and Jeannine Goeckeritz, (flute) ask their viewers in their new series of videos released on YouTube. In this video, they perform the beloved classic Londonderry Air – “Danny Boy”, arranged by Sam Cardon, from their CD ~ Chanson ~ Music of Light, Peace and Relaxation. Filmed above the city in a peaceful rooftop garden on the LDS Conference Center, this piece was a beloved favorite of the late President Gordon B. Hinckley who’s vision and example inspired generations Continue reading

He Is Risen!
“Of all the things for which I feel grateful, I am most thankful this Easter morning for the gift of my Lord and my Redeemer. This is Easter, when, with all of Christendom, we commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This was not an ordinary thing. It was the greatest event in human history. I do not hesitate to say that.
“If a man die, shall he live again?” asked Job (Job 14:14). There is no question of greater importance than this. Continue reading
“Does God Exist?”: Religion vs. Knowledge
The attached video is based upon a true story, and I feel is worthy of sharing with my readers. The Government of the Republic of Macedonia’s Ministry of Education & Science created this thought provoking clip. It was used as part of a social advertising campaign aimed at promoting religious education. The Headline for this commercial reads:
”Religion is knowledge, too.”
The concept is clear. The lack of light brings darkness. One of the great Latter-day Saint (Mormon) prophets of this century spoke on evil just one month following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Here were his words regarding evil:
” [As] wonderful as this time is, it is fraught with peril. Evil is all about us. It is attractive and tempting and in so many cases successful. Paul declared:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…Having a form of godliness; but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (2 Tim. 3:1–5).
We see today all of these evils, more commonly and generally, than they have ever been seen before, as we have so recently been reminded by what has occurred in New York City, Washington, and Pennsylvania…. We live in a season when fierce men do terrible and despicable things. We live in a season of war. We live in a season of arrogance. We live in a season of wickedness, pornography, immorality. All of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah haunt our society. Our young people have never faced a greater challenge. We have never seen more clearly the lecherous face of evil.
And so, my brothers and sisters, we are met together…to help and lift one another, to give encouragement and build faith, to reflect on the wonderful things the Lord has made available to us, and to strengthen our resolve to oppose evil in whatever form it may take… Our strength is our faith in the Almighty. No cause under the heavens can stop the work of God. Adversity may raise its ugly head. The world may be troubled with wars and rumors of wars, but His cause will go forward.” Gordon B. Hinckley, Oct. General Conference, 2001
Honoring Women
In October 2004 the late President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints honored the divine gifts possessed by women in a General Conference address entitled “The Women In Our Lives“. Youtube MormonMessages has created a video which beautifully illustrates excerpts of his words.
President Hinckley shared this tender preface to his chosen topic:
“My brethren and sisters, at the outset, if you will bear with me, I wish to exercise a personal privilege. Six months ago, at the close of our conference, I stated that my beloved companion of 67 years was seriously ill. She passed away two days later…I wish to thank publicly the dedicated doctors and wonderful nurses who attended her during her final illness”
Hinckley’s Parable of The Shoes
In this video, the late President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints tells a touching story from his youth.
Finding Light In The Darkness
- In early Spring of 2008 the economic crises hit our household when my husband was laid off from his job. His employer was sad to have to let him go, but had no choice “due to the economic turn-down”. Mr. MoSop was provided with a small severance package, and a glowing reference letter, which were greatly appreciated. Although this was not a pleasant situation, we had weathered similar storms before and we were positive that new employment would be found quickly.
The days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months. As time passed, Continue reading New Movie: Gordon B. Hinckley A Giant Among Men
Tonight I had the opportunity to attend an advance showing of the new movie “Gordon B. Hinckley; A Giant Among Men” which will release to theaters and video on November 25th. Produced and distributed through Living Scriptures, this new movie was filmed and directed by renown cinematographer T.C. Christensen who also filmed The Work and the Glory, Praise To The Man, The Testaments, and Lewis & Clark (IMAX) among many others. Here is my review.
This movie does not attempt to retell the entire story of Gordon B. Hinckley’s 97 years of life. Rather, it focuses upon Continue reading
Join The Hinckley Challenge
Today is October 1st, and it’s your opportunity to join in a new online “Hinckley Challenge“! The Challenge website was designed in honor of an historic challenge that President Gordon B. Hinckley gave the world in August 2005 to read the Book of Mormon before the end of the year. Each Hinckley Challenge is now designed with a 97-day finish line in honor of President Hinckley’s 97 years of life. (but one is definitely welcome to reach the finish line early)
The Book of Mormon has Continue reading
He Watching Over Israel, Slumbers Not
“I hope you enjoyed that magnificent anthem presented by the Choir—“He, Watching Over Israel, Slumbers Not, Nor Sleeps.” It is from Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and the words are adapted from the Psalms. (See Ps. 121:4.)… Continue reading

It All Works Out
The dog had diarrhea.
Thus begins the tale of my “sad song day”. But first, my dog Joey had gas. It started the night before. Those of you with dogs know that canine flatulence is just about one of the most unpleasant things we put up with for love of our furry friends. But this was a particularly bad case. So I was actually eager to log in a full day of work at the office. I assumed like all the other times before, this particular embarrassing condition would resolve itself before my return.
I assumed wrong.

Six months ago, at the close of our conference, I stated that my beloved companion of 67 years was seriously ill.
