Alex Boyé Takes Music To Higher Ground

The latest release by the irresistible Piano Guys, entitled “Peponi“, has become yet another YouTube sensation for the classical duo. But, this one is an extra special treat. Pianist Jon Schmidt and Cellist Steven Sharp Nelson partnered with vocal powerhouse, (and my personal friend), Alex Boyé to create an African ”spiritualization” of Coldplay’s hit song “Paradise”. Alex Boyé is a British-born Mormon convert of Nigerian descent who currently lives in Utah, USA. Alex is a husband, a father, and a professional singer and actor. He gives his whole heart and soul into each performance, and allows his music to stand as a testament of his life and faith. Continue reading →

Where was Jesus for the 30-35 hours between His death on Friday, and His Resurrection on Sunday?  The answer unlocks the mystery of death and gives us a glimpse of God’s Great Plan of Happiness for all of His children. Elder Spencer J. Condie of the Quorum of the Seventy stated:

“…the significance of what He [The Savior] did during those hours provides the  doctrinal foundation for building [Latter-day Saint] temples across the earth. Furthermore, a testimony of what He did can greatly console those who mourn the death of a loved one.” Continue reading →

Sabbath Day

The word Sabbath comes from the Hebrew shabbath, meaning “day of rest”. Flavius Josephus (37 – 100 AD) an oft-quoted scholar who lived during the first century after Christ, stated that the Sabbath was a day “set apart from labour [and] dedicated to the learning of our customs and laws so that the people might learn a good thing and avoid sin” (see The Complete Works of Josephus) It is interesting to me how closely this definition parallels the scriptural basis for honoring the Sabbath.
