I Believe In Christ

Mormons believe the first principle of the gospel is “Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ” (A of F 1:4), and “No [one] cometh unto the Father, but by [Him]” (John 14:6).

We base our belief and conviction of the divine nature and mission of the Lord Jesus Christ on the holy scriptures and on continuing revelation to latter-day prophets.

“We believe the Bible to be the word of God” (A of F 1:8). We delight in the knowledge of the Lord that we find recorded in the Old and New Testaments. We read and study the Bible, we teach and preach from it, and we strive to live according to the eternal truths it contains. We love this Holy record.

“We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God” (A of F 1:8), Another Testament, and second witness to the Bible’s testimony of the Savior. The Book of Mormon does not replace the Bible. It expands and amplifies our knowledge of the Savior. This second witness should be cause for great rejoicing by all Christians! We invite our friends who are not of our faith to read the Book of Mormon and ponder its content prayerfully.

“…for [these words] are the words of Christ. . . and they teach all men that they should do good.” 2 Nephi 33:10

We believe that Jesus Christ Lives! God speaks to His children today just as He has throughout all the ages, through living prophets. (Amos 3:7)

Latter-day Saints “believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.”  (A of F 1:9)

MormonSoprano believes in Jesus Christ. The greatest joy in life comes from knowing, embracing, and following Him. I am pleased to share Seth Adam Smith’s new video set to the beloved LDS Hymn  “I Believe In Christ” performed by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, with images by prominent Latter-day Saint artists.

“I Believe in Christ”
by Elder Bruce R. McConkie [1915-1985]

I believe in Christ; he is my King!
With all my heart to him I’ll sing;
I’ll raise my voice in praise and joy,
In grand Amens my tongue employ.

I believe in Christ; he is God’s Son.
On earth to dwell his soul did come.
He healed the sick; the dead he raised.
Good works were his; his name be praised.

I believe in Christ; oh blessed name!
As Mary’s Son he came to reign
’Mid mortal men, his earthly kin,
To save them from the woes of sin.

I believe in Christ, who marked the path,
Who did gain all his Father hath,
Who said to men: “Come, follow me,
That ye, my friends, with God may be.”

I believe in Christ—my Lord, my God!
My feet he plants on gospel sod.
I’ll worship him with all my might;
He is the source of truth and light.

I believe in Christ; he ransoms me.
From Satan’s grasp he sets me free,
And I shall live with joy and love
In his eternal courts above.

I believe in Christ; he stands supreme!
From him I’ll gain my fondest dream;
And while I strive through grief and pain,
His voice is heard: “Ye shall obtain.”

I believe in Christ; so come what may,
With him I’ll stand in that great day
When on this earth he comes again
To rule among the sons of men.

  1. This hymn is also one of my favorite LDS hymns. The writer of its lyrics is one of my favorite apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. The choir that performed it in this very eceptional video is by far, my favorite choir. I have used many of the paintings in my own blog. Without what our Savior has done for us through his atonement and ongoing guidance of our lives, life would be meaningless! Thank you Mormon Soprano for providing this!
