Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart – Mariz Mitra

Today’s Thanksgiving countdown playlist selection is the song “Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart”. Popularized in 1978 by a Christian worship leader named Don Moen, the song was written by Henry Smith and has been translated into dozens of languages. Professionally recorded over 50 times, it is published in many songbooks.

Fun Fact: The phrase “Give Thanks” is used 59 times in the King James Version of the Bible.

There are several recordings of “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart” available on YouTube. My favorite is a creative cover performed by a young woman named Mariz Mitra who harmonizes (with herself) in trio. Mitra has a lovely clear voice and has posted an impressive selection of recordings on her YouTube channel. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any other information about her online. So, although I’m not sure who she is, where she is from, or how old she is, I do hope she keeps singing. Enjoy! – MoSop

GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART – LYRICS

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

We give thanks to You, O Lord
We give thanks
