On Saturday September 26, 2015 the fall General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially began with General Women’s Session held bi-annually for all women and girls age 8 and up. As circumstances would have it, I could not attend the meeting nor tune in via radio or live streaming. I was in a very public place. However, I did have a phone that I could glance at. So, I pulled up my Twitter account and watched the feed. Sure enough, “live tweets” started pouring in with hashtags such as #womenssession, #lds and #ldsconf. I began reading all of the highlighted quotes and personal impressions of all my fellow sisters (and brothers) watching globally, and I shook my head in amazement;
“Wow! I’m seriously getting the play-by-play here!”
Of course there were duplication quotes during the talks, but that was OK (we learn by repetition, right?)
My soul was lifted. My mind was enlightened. And, although I looked forward to hearing and reading the messages in depth later on, it actually turned out to be the most inspirational “twitterific experience” I’ve ever had. Yes, I totally just made up that word – but I wouldn’t be surprised if #twitterific already exists (didn’t check).
So… I just want to send a big shout out and thank you to all of the sisters who were sharing Women’s Conference via the social media bird.
Here are just a few of the quotes that stood out and enlightened me:
This quote by President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the First Presidency (the only male speaker at the session)
And this awesome quote by President Uchtdorf (created here into a short video)!
Last but not least – this song – which I couldn’t hear via Twitter, but did enjoy later on. Such a very nice arrangement and beautiful harmonies from these bright sisters both tall and small!
You can read or watch ALL of the talks and songs at this link: 2015 LDS General Women’s Session.
I’m sooooo looking forward to the next five sessions of General Conference beginning tomorrow (happy dance!) – Saturday October 3 through Sunday October 4.
I am incredibly blessed to experience the messages LIVE this time. Be sure to check out times and places in your area at this link here.
It’s going to be awesome. Don’t miss it! – MoSop
