And The Mormon Tabernacle Choir!

Today, I am in the middle of our annual Christmas Concert performance week. Between moving and rehearsals, I’m exhausted. But, I am having the most wonderful time singing the Spirit of Christ for the masses, and it brings a lot of peace and perspective into my own life. I wouldn’t miss this beautiful, magical, musical experience for the world!

This year’s Mormon Tabernacle Choir guest is Mexican born Rolando VillazĂłn, one of the most renowned tenors of the modern age who now resides in Paris and has his own variety show in Germany. He is an extremely multi-cultural and talented man.

And, Rolando is also an extremely energetic, funny, and charming man! It’s been a joy performing with him. This year’s show is being filmed by PBS for a 2017 release.

COME SEE THE SHOW

If you are anywhere near SLC this weekend, don’t miss the concert! No ticket, no problem. Even though all of the tickets have been officially distributed, there are always plenty of Standby Seats for those willing to come early and wait. The performances begin at 8:00 PM. The Standby seating forms early [beginning about 5:30-6:00 PM] at the Tabernacle on Temple Square. You can stay nice and warm & dry while waiting. The ushers will begin to take groups across the street to the Conference Center beginning about 7:15 PM.

It’s worth the wait.

HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

It really happened. My family and I officially slept in our own beds inside our own brand new home for the first time last Saturday. It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks. Due to the tricky timing of the move coinciding with my Concert rehearsals I still have stacks of unpacked boxes in each room with their contents waiting to be opened, emptied and and organized. But, I’m choosing to ignore them until next Monday.

Thanks to Mr. Mo, we actually have a wreath hanging on our front door. So, at least we have the appearance of being festive! The jury is still out on whether we will actually have a Christmas tree this year. I’m thinking we might just hang some stockings and call it good. What do you think?

Happy Christmas Time everyone! – MoSop

  1. So glad to hear you’re moved in. The worst is over. Now you can take your time and, as you have time, begin to unpack and put things away. I always hated moving day, because there was a deadline and it was so stressful to have everything ready. No deadline on unpacking.

I went online to my local PBS station and found out that last year’s MoTab concert will be broadcast on Mon. 12/19. So I will be watching with great expectation. I’ll be looking for you. I always enjoyed watching the Choir’s Christmas program, but it’s even more special to me knowing that I have a friend singing.

As for your tree, I have a 3′ fiber optic tree that requires no ornaments or lights. I put it on a shelf by the window and enjoy the changing colors as it spins. That’s all I have room for. You might consider something similar for this year, and then next year go all out and move the little tree to a bedroom. Just a thought. I’m sure whatever you do, it will be just as beautiful and meaningful. The most important part of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Christ with your family. The tree is optional.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Lynne

  2. Thank you, Holly.

I will check my local PBS listings for last year’s MoTab Christmas concert.

You have brought Christmas cheer to my heart. Thank you for reminding me that the most important part of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus with my family. May you enjoy all the blessings of Christmas as you celebrate with your family in your new home. Don’t worry about the tree. If you don’t have it this year, it will be more meaningful for you next Christmas.

    Roger
