Mission Reveal!

Wow! The BIG WHITE ENVELOPE arrived from Mission Headquarters this morning!

Mom and Dad texted us early this morning letting us know it was sitting on their kitchen counter. They showed incredible restraint to wait all day to open it until all the family could gather at their house at 7:30 PM.

We let Dad open the envelope and read the call … and as you will see that was a mistake because he totally cheated!!!

Shame on him! 😉 lol

This mission assignment is a big surprise!

They served their first mission in 2013-2015 to Santa Rosa California. We had expected another mission in the Western USA – possibly another California mission, Colorado, or Idaho. Although, Dad had also been teasing Mom they might go to North Dakota. For the past two weeks he has been announcing the temperature in Bismark every morning (think single digits! brrrr!).

Of course, Mom didn’t want to go too far away from all her darling grand-babies.

With ALL their Grand-babies, from small to tall!

And it needed to be somewhere we could all drive to and visit often…

Um…Well…

…that’s definitely not a one day drive from Utah!

from home to kentucky
Driving 1500 miles (2500 Kilometers), travelling through 7 states would take about 3 days

Yikes. That is pretty far.

But, of course we are still super excited!!!

This is what we UTAH folk imagine when we hear “KENTUCKY”

I have some dear blog reading friends out there who live in or within driving distance from Louisville 😀  so, yep, I’m super excited that you can have a chance to meet these two cutie pie parents of mine!

Aren’t they the cutest? ♥

Of course this ALSO means that YES, Mr. Mo and I MUST find a way to come out there now and see “all ya’all” at least once in the next 12 months, right?! 😉

Russell M. Nelson

“When we think of missionaries, we generally picture in our minds young men with shirts and ties and young women dressed modestly. But along with them are marvelous senior missionaries who have answered the pleadings of prophets and apostles for more missionary couples.

I express gratitude for our senior missionaries. They are young in spirit, wise, and willing to work. They even tolerate remarks from their fun-filled children who might change President Spencer W. Kimball’s plea “Lengthen your stride” to “Hasten your shuffle.”

 – President Russell M. Nelson, October 2004

What a blessing it is to have Mom and Dad willing to go forth and serve another full-time mission on the Lord’s errand to lift and bless the lives of all they meet and work with. They will be serving the mission President and his wife, the young missionaries called to the Kentucky Louisville Mission, and of course all of the beautiful people who live in the great state of Kentucky.

Take good care of them for us, will you?

You are getting the best of the best – coming April 2018!

Love, MoSop

  1. WOW!!! I am sitting here with my jaw on the floor. As you know, I live in Louisville, KY. That picture with the horses you have in your post looks more like Lexington than Louisville, but we have horses too. I’m excited for your parents and hope to get to meet them, and maybe, finally, you and Mr. Mo. I wish them the best and safe travels to the Bluegrass State.

  2. Holly, they called us earlier today. President and Sister Hughes are wonderful and they will love serving with your most wonderful parents. I’ve been to Kentucky for assignment at least three times over the last two year and I’ve had the privilege of meeting President and Sister Hughes a couple of times. I hope I’ll have additional assignments there to visit with Elder and Sister Seely. BTW, every time we watch Music and the Spoken Word and we see you, both Kathie and I together exclaim – there is Holly, she sang for us at Christmas in the mission home. We love watching you and hearing you sing. We are only about 6 hours away so hopefully we’ll get to see them when they are here. So happy for all the blessings the ENTIRE family will receive because of their service. René Alba
